Gad’s fencers do school proud at national contest

Seniors and Juniors took part in a fencing competition in the capital recently – read proud Fencing Coach Miss Ellis’ fight report:

Six students represented Gad’s at a UK-wide fencing competition, which is part of the Leon Paul Junior Series.

James S., L5B, was first on and had a very successful initial poule round.  He managed to secure a bye into the 16 and ended up placing 12th overall.

Our U13 boys all won several of their fights in both rounds of poules, before proceeding  to the direct elimination round.  Shell H’s Eden M., and Tom P., of ReF, both went out in the Last 64 round with Mac F. and Carter G., both of ShH, finishing 26th and 29th respectively.

Our youngest team member started his competition last however definitely not least.  J5’s Ollie L. won eight out of nine matches in the poule.  He sailed through to the Last 16 of the competition and narrowly lost 10-7 to one of the top GB U11 fencers, finishing in a very impressive 9th place.

Overall a very successful day for the Gad’s fencers, whom have only been fencing since last September.
