Gad’s GCSE students follow the river to Essex to find out more about sampling

Our Y10 Scientists spent the day at Rainham’s medieval marshes just, outside London, completing GCSE practical modules.

The cohort used sampling techniques to investigate the effect of a factor on the distribution of a species during the research day alongside the River Thames,

Working in small groups, they carried-out their investigations utilising pH meters, quadrats and soil temperature probes.

All students successfully completed tasks and challenges set by the Education team at the RSPB nature reserve.

Staff at the marshes commended the Gad’s Seniors on their impeccable behaviour, teamwork and positive attitude to learning.

The classmates returned to school enthused and well-prepared to move on to the next Science syllabus unit.
