Maths students make the most of the sunshine

Our Y9s learned more about speed, distance and time this morning, when their lesson was held in Gad’s grounds.

Mrs Ostrehan’s group timed how long it took for balloons to travel along a piece of string by measuring its length and using the two variables to calculate the speed of the balloon.

The U5W form tutor and maths teacher said:  “Solving mathematical challenges with a hands-on method is always beneficial – and the weather helped too!.

“The classmates worked well together to demonstrate how a simple practical is a great introduction to substituting into a formula.”
