U5 battle but staff triumphant in Gad’s football match

Read Maths teacher Mr Harris’ match report:

The Upper 5th took on the staff in a fiercely contested seven-a-side match.

In what was very much a game of two halves, the staff quickly took control and got off to a good start with two goals from Mr Harris.

The Seniors battled well with Michael French and Connor Anderson creating much of the play.

Strong defensive work from the Headmaster and a fine display in goal from Mr Lavery followed before two more staff goals from Mr Tyler.

Michael French got a goal back for the student squad but just before the break Mr Gibson slotted home to make the half time score 5-1 to the staff.

In the second half a sterling defensive performance by the staff with Mr Savage, Mr Craggs and Mr Tyler making key blocks kept the Upper 5th at bay.

Michael and Connor both netted to make close the gap to 5-3 and Cameron Miller kept a clean sheet in goal but the staff held on to win 5-3.

Man of the match was Mr Tyler.
