Gad’s U10s take part in first cross country race of the term

Read PE teacher Mr Jelf’s report:

Our school fixture list started this year with a cross country event organised by the Ashford Leisure Trust and held in the wonderful gardens of Godinton House and Gardens in Ashford.

A team of under 10 girls and boys took on some experienced runners over a 1600m course that was a real cross country challenge with hills, long grass and `cow pats’ included.

The boys’ race had over 50 runners and it was clear that the front runners were good, regular club runners in the east Kent region, but the Gad’s boys soon found themselves in the middle of the pack working hard over the challenging course.

First home for Gad’s was Ollie in 27th, he was followed in by Thomas, Blake and Rahul.

The girls’ race was an equally fast race but an impressive 9th place by Keira and 11th by Scarlett were highlights of the day. Evie and Ava made up the team and performed well in their first race.

This was an excellent outing for our runners who will have the chance of taking part in many more cross country races over the next two terms. Congratulations to all the runners.
