Seniors sit exams to help prepare for GCSEs

Our Seniors are sitting formal examinations this week as part of Gad’s rigorous preparation for GCSEs.

All students from years seven to ten are tested in core subjects each term to mirror the changes to the GCSE examination system, and to help improve their chances of academic success.

GCSE qualifications have changed from modular to linear, which means there is less coursework and students sit all exams at the end of the full course.

Director of Studies Mrs Margetts said: “We have introduced the termly assessments to prepare the students for their finals, and to further appraise their ability based on exam performance.

“By sitting regular examinations in strict conditions, the children will be used to the format and more relaxed and prepared for the real thing.

“Measuring the students’ ability based on exam performance allows us to provide better and more frequent feedback to parents about their academic progress.”

Results will be sent via ISAMS Parent Portal and will form part of the school’s ongoing assessment schedule which also includes parents’ consultation evenings and full subject reports.
