History helpers open a club for younger students

L5 subject leaders will be on-hand to support KS3 learners at a weekly drop-in session in the new history research library.

Set up by history subject leaders Kieran Fitzsimons and James Huxham, and assisted by Mrs Blann, the hour-long club will feature revision activities, interactive games and the opportunity to browse and borrow a wealth of historical books and magazines.

Mrs Blann said: “The aim is to provide a quiet place for years seven to nine students to expand their knowledge of history while benefitting from being able to discuss lessons and homework with more experienced students.

“I’ve been very impressed with the turnout and Keiran and James’ commitment and enthusiasm – many of the pupils that have come along said it has already helped with their essays and project work.”

The history club is open to all Shell – U4 pupils and is in Mrs Blann’s room every Tuesday from 4-5pm.
