The ‘Friends of Gad’s Hill’ put on summer parties for the entire school to help raise money for a new climbing wall.
The long-running parents’ association transformed the school’s gymnasium into a ballroom complete with chequered dance floor, curtained walls and twinkling lights.
Year 11 leavers and their parents were treated to a sit-down meal, toe-tapping show between courses, live band and fireworks at their ‘Great Gadsby’ end of school social.
Our youngest students enjoyed a disco, bouncy castle and popcorn machine while the seniors braved a ride on a Bucking Bronco before taking to the dance floor with classmates and teachers.
Friends chairperson Carol Mullins said: “The evenings were fantastic and the children were amazed at the school’s makeover.
“We have been fundraising and planning the events for months and our efforts really paid off with ticket sales at an all-time high and lots of smiley faces celebrating the end of term in style.”
The climbing wall will be just one of many extra-curricular resources, including an outdoor adventure play area, provided by the team of dedicated parents and friends of the school.
