Our soon-to-be year elevens entertained more than 50 local pensioners at the annual Gad’s afternoon tea yesterday.
Scones and cream, Pimm’s and homemade cakes were all on the menu but what the guests enjoyed most was the entertainment.
Higham resident Ellen said: “We had such fun and the children were so kind and polite.
“We get invited every year and the school even provides a minibus to pick us up and take us home. It’s such a treat and the youngsters look after us beautifully.”
Compere Elliot led a general knowledge quiz from modern times and yesteryear while fellow host Harrison was a natural bingo caller – with some calls that had the players in stitches of laughter!
After a raffle and musical recitals from our singers and pianists, some weary but very happy friends left with gifts of chocolates, flowers and wine all lovingly donated and wrapped by the classmates.
