J3 learns ‘for better or for worse’

Our year three children have taken part in their very own wedding ceremony, complete with confetti, cake and a congregation.

The class has been learning about the traditional Christian marriage service as part of their Religious Education studies – and Mrs Henwood and Miss Maxwell organised for them to take part in a ‘ceremony’ to help bring their classroom learning to life.

Names were pulled from a hat to select who would play the starring roles but all the children joined in with the celebration.

Bride Evie and groom Thomas made their vows in front of excited classmates before being toasted with Champagne, aka lemonade, and enjoying strawberries on the lawn at their reception – bridesmaid Emma even managed to catch the bouquet!

The ‘to have and to hold…’ pledge has been used at UK church weddings since 1552.
